The Southern California Chapter of the California Association for the Education of Young Children (SCC-CAAEYC) has a seat on the County of Los Angeles Child Care Planning Committee and the Policy Roundtable.

Child Care Planning Committee – The mission of the Child Care Planning Committee is to engage parents, child care providers, allied organizations, and community and public agencies in collaborative planning efforts to improve the overall child care infrastructure of the County of Los Angeles, including the quality and continuity, affordability, and accessibility of child care and development services for all families.

The location for the Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education has changed.   See memo below:

The Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education is thrilled to announce our move to the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH/MCAH)!  The public health lens offers a unique and broader context for thinking about and performing our work, approaching early care and education as an indicator of health that contributes to children’s optimal development, stronger families and healthier communities.  And, the move presents opportunities to strengthen connections to public health services such as the Nurse-Family Partnership Program that brings home visitation services to low-income, first time mothers and supports them in the early years of parenthood and Help Me Grow-Los Angeles (HMG-LA) that is designed to build a comprehensive and coordinated system to support promoting children’s optimal development and well-being.

Our office will continue to serve as staff to the Child Care Planning Committee (Los Angeles County’s local child care and development planning council) and the Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development and administer our two stipend programs – the Investing in Early Educators Stipend Program and the California Transitional Kindergarten Stipend Incentive Program (CTKSIP – note that this program is scheduled to end effective March 31, 2019).  Additionally, our contributions to public policy work and the evolution of the quality rating and improvement system (Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA)) and more will continue under the umbrella of DPH/MCAH.
