Nominations are OPEN for SCC-CAAEYC Board Positions

  • The Southern California Chapter (SCC) of the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAAEYC) is seeking nominations for the Principal Officers of the SCC Corporate Chapter Board for the next two years, July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2023.  CAAEYC is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  NAEYC is one of the nation’s foremost professional associations focusing on the education of early childhood educators and advocating for the needs and rights of young children and their families.

    This is your opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of young children and their families in Southern California.  The Chapter Board, composed of members from the greater Los Angeles area, provides vision, leadership, and direction for local SCC committees.  Serving is a worthy cause, which can lead to personally satisfying and professionally valuable relationships.  Serving on the board has led to many life-long friendships as well as professional enrichment.  Colleagues network and collaborate on projects to benefit the field of early care and education.  Nominate someone who you believe will make a worthy candidate – include yourself as a nominee!

    Nominees must be members in good standing of the National Association for the Education of Young Children(NAEYC) and must have had some leadership experience.  Leadership opportunities include President-Elect, Vice-President Programs, Recording Secretary and Treasurer for the SCC Corporate Chapter.

    The deadline for submission of applications is Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Nominees must submit a resume, personal statement and the names and contact information of two (2) professional references.

    Requirements for Eligibility

    • Active member of SCC-CAAEYC;
    • Served on a SCC-CAAEYC Committee within the past 3 years;
    • Leadership experience and /or strong leadership potential in the field of early care and education;
    • Specific skills and qualifications related to Board position descriptions;
    • Understanding of and familiarity with SCC-CAAEYC’s mission, philosophy, goals, and Code of Ethics;
    • Strong interpersonal skills, objectivity, and personal time available to serve as a board member;
    • Awareness of and familiarity with public policy issues in the field of early care and education.
