Current scientific research tells us that children learn by doing.  Here is an opportunity to enhance your current curriculum by examining what makes children natural scientists as you see (and play in) an environment where their cognitive development can thrive. We will share how to add elements of wonder and discovery through the pursuit of experiential play.

Presenter:

Nicki Backlar, M.A.

Nicki Backlar has been teaching higher education for over seven years and currently works at Santa Monica College, UCLA Extension and West Los Angeles College.  She has an MA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College and an Adult School Credential with an emphasis in Parent Education, has two children, and over twenty-five years’ experience in the field. She’s an experienced Humanistic educator, preschool teacher and parent educator.
