Art and Science, A Perfect Match!

Join us as we investigate how to awaken the inner artist and scientist in your students. Through hands-on activities that promote scientific reasoning and critical thinking, together we will create artistic masterpieces. This workshop will give participants fun art-based ideas to use with preschool and kindergarten children. 

1.Participants will be able to recognize the developmentally appropriate content of early childhood science exploration, particularly scientific reasoning.

2.Participants will be exposed to how to teach and support science principles with hands-on art activities that promote science.

  1. Participants will participate in activities that support open-ended art activities that encourage creative and critical thinking.

Featured Presenter:

Michael Fritzen, M.A.

Michael Fritzen has been involved in the informal education field for over 15 years. He has worked at a variety of popular Los Angeles destinations, such as the Natural History Museum of LA County, the Los Angeles Zoo, the Autry Museum, Skirball Cultural Center, and the Huntington. Currently, Michael is Program Manger for the PJ Library. In his spare time, he serves as a docent at the Los Angeles Zoo and Tillman Japanese Garden, as well as serves as on the boards for the California Association for the Education of Young Children, Valley Relics Museum and Museum Educators of SoCal. He holds a Masters in Arts Management/Museum Studies from Claremont Graduate University.
